Training Tips

Here you will find articles, stories, illustrations, video clips and examples to help train and enhance your hunting beagle. Some are vintage articles or stories taken from very old Beagle, Fox Hound and Coon Hound magazines. Some of the greatest Beagle breeders & trainers derived from “old school” Fox & Coon hunters. Many strategies and techniques used to condition, train, trash break, health concerns etc… that were used on Fox & Coon Hounds can be applied to the Hunting Beagle. Before L.M. “Yellow Creek” Watson took a Willet Randall Patch Hound & two Blue Caps and created the line that would be the foundation for the bulk of the “Hunting Beagle” world today, Mr. Watson was an avid Fox Hound man. Frank Reese, before establishing the Gay Hounds was an active Fox Hound breeder and trialer, as you will see in some of his writings below concerning his “first love” Fox Hounds. Many, many more could be mentioned. Take and absorb what applies to beagles, I hope this helps your beagling program.
